I think I'll be reading more

Yesterday we (w/Joel's help) loaded our bedroom tv into the car to take to portland with us. No more tv in our bedroom for a while. I'm a little sad and will miss watching 2 hours of Law & Order before I fall asleep. (BTW...L&O might be the best show ever...it never gets old)

I think I'll be reading more though. It's not that I don't like to read it's just that I'd usually rather watch tv. Now that I CAN'T watch tv in my bedroom, I have many non-fiction books I would love to read. First on the list...Freakenomics.

The tv (which was originally Dusty's parents') is now going in Dusty's sister's new home in Gresham. We are heading down there this weekend to help them paint and move. Should be a fun but tiring weekend.

Hey Kara, hope you are having a fun weekend. I added you as a link on my blog, I hope that is okay :)

Keep the TV out of the bedroom and your marriage will improve! Too many couples spend precious intimate time watching garbage shows. (for 2 hours or more?) Are you spending that much time with the Lord? Where are your priorities?

Kara-
#1 I also added you on my new blog- bakersdozenminuseleven.blogspot

#2 I too have a tv in my room: LOVE IT!

To: anonymous

1) You must not know my husband and I very much. We don't go to bed at the same time so I don't see why not having tv in our bedroom would improve our marriage.2)law & order is not a gargabe show. I know you don't watch it because if you did, you'd love it...and you wouldn't have called it garbage.
3)I love hatin' on anonymous comments from judgemental people...seriously.

No judging going on here! I was just stating the facts. Studies show that is there is a TV in the bedroom intimacy decreases. It is sad that you "love" a TV show and not God or your husband. You also said you love hatin' and that is a real Christ like response. Maybe you need to pull out your Bible instead of some non-fiction books and read it. You are right about one thing, I don't know you but I have seen too many "Christian" couples get divorced.

whoa-who is this guy? Studies also show that couples that watch TV fight less. Probably resulting in less divorce

Who said she doesn't love God or her husband???

WOW! This is awesome! Keep it up Kara! I have never laughed out loud like this before. How sad that someone is going to call you out on your love for the Lord. Ah, it must be nice to cast stones when you're so perfect. :)

I love you and I support whatever you decide.

...and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'm hoping you'll get a really big t.v. to put in your bedroom! :)

Anonymous,

Who said I didn't love god or my husband? I never said that...must be your great intuition about my life again. Thanks for all the information about "studies" you've read (or maybe you saw them on a tv program (how sinful)...don't worry, I won't tell anyone you watch tv). Between your judgementalism and all the "great" advice and information, you seem like the sort of person that anyone would love to have as a friend.

You know, after thinking about it.....you are right. I can be a bit judgemental at times. When I said I wasn't judging but then said, "it is sad that you "love" a TV show and not God or your husband"...I really WAS judging. I'm sure that you love your husband and God and just really "like" TV.

I do watch TV, but only quality shows like Two and a Half Men and What Not To Wear (they give great advice for people like me).

Sometimes I feel like I should be a family counselor because of my ability to read into people's lives through simple things like blogs. I am really sorry that I couldn't help this time, but I'll keep checking in on your blog, and next time I will try not to be such a cotton-headed ninny muggins.

Pre-April Fools!!! That last comment was me.....Kara's husband Dusty. It just too easy to rip on people that post comments anonymously and expect others to actually agree with the junk they say. Kara and I have a great relationship. I hope the real "anonymous" posts something else cause I'm on Spring Break and I can go back and forth all week. I deal with 1st and 2nd graders all day long, so I'm used to this level of intelligence.

Robica said...

so what it Dusty all along? This is getting confusing...

Kara said...

only the last anonymous post was his. he was making fun of the real anonymous. it would be a lot less confusing if the real anonymous would just post her name.

I got a (somewhat) judgmental anonymous comment the other day and when I read the anonymous comments to you the "wording" seemed the same. My guess is that its probably the same person who doesn't have anything better to do but anonymously judge people they probably don't even know outside of the blog world.

Anyway, I came over here to wish you a Happy Birthday when I saw all this and felt the need to comment :)

So Happy Birthday and I hope you have a wonderful day!

I'm not on Spring Break, but I am more than willing to set aside time each day to check for updates. :) Dusty had me fooled. I actually started to feel some compassion and love for this rude individual. Oh well.

I bet this is also the same anonymous person who ripped on Bridget. We'll figure it out eventually...with all of the tracking devices out there, she can't hide much longer.

This is hilarious! I think my mouth was hanging open the whole time!
I don't know why people post things anonymously...oh well, they must need prayer.
Kara, do you have a tracker on your blog? Where do they live? You should check! =)
HAVE A GREAT BDAY! oh and dun, dun, dun...the "suspense noise" on the show. Did you know they even have a SESAME STREET spoof on this show-it's cute.

Where have I BEEN!? I had no idea this was going on. Who is this person and why are they even reading our blogs? Things like this make me want to change my blog so it is private and I can keep people like that out.

It is really none of her business what we do or how we live our lives. It MUST be a girl because a guy wouldn't read into having a TV in our bedroom that much. I wonder how much time she spends reading blogs and if she spends as much time with the Lord. :) Do you "anonymous"?

Love you Kara and hope you had a GREAT bday!

Its clear from reading your responses that all the wives commenting on this blog need to check their priorities. If watching TV or reading blogs is how you spend most of your time, who's going to cook dinner, keep the house clean, or care for your cats? Studies show that a well-fed man who is cleaned up after is much less likely to commit adultery.

andy, i know that last anonymous comment was you!!!

Stacy said...

This is hilarious!

I hope that last comment wasn't Andy!

Oh - and I started making my comments so that they have to be approved by me before they are posted online - it's wonderful :) Like screening your calls! You can just set your blogger profile to that if you want :)

christy said...

Oh my word... that is hilarious! It better be Andy because if that was the original anonymous, she needs to get a life. I love blog drama.

Okay, I got caught. Did Dusty tell you Kara? Happy late birthday by the way!

anne said...

Did Andy have anything to do with the earlier anonymous comments?

I loved the part about caring for your cats...nice touch.

This is so much fun...I don't want it to end.

andy only authored the last anonymous comment. the real anonymous is still out their waiting to criticize more posts...can't wait! bring it on, anonymous!

I know I'm a bit late, but I can't resist a "blog conflict"! The last time I checked, Kara's blog is Kara's and it's so cowardly to have written these things without signing your name...and the last time I read my bible (which clearly wasn't as recently as "anonymous" did) it says in Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." Perhaps anonymous forgot to read that part...

I've gotta go...I think there are two re-runs of Law & Order on right now!! :)

Wow, I too am really late to this whole string of comments. (Been kinda busy this past week....) It is really too bad that anonymous doesn't know you. You are truly a sweet young woman who loves God and loves her husband. You can take the valuable advice she offers (read your Bible, spend time with the Lord & Dusty) and throw the rest of her garbage out! Anonymous probably doesn't even have a husband to love and care for; if she did, I hope she wouldn't be spending all of her time criticizing others anonymously through blogs.

P.S. Aren't you glad that I introduced you to Law & Order when we were on our trip to Campbell, CA?!
