Remodel- The Demo

As most of you know, Dusty is living in Boise to prepare for the new school year. He's going to be a 2nd grade teacher at a school close to the center of the city. On top of that, he and his parents are remodeling our house. The house was built in the early 80's but also has wonderful hints of the 70's. Here are some pics of the remodel so far.
Here's a before picture of our kitchen. We are planning on repainting the cabinets white and adding some hardware to their faces.

We also decided to take this cabinet out since it opens up the kitchen space. We don't need the storage since the wall across from the windows has a large pantry.

Doesn't that look better already?

I was sweating trying to rip off our current trim with a crow(sp?) bar.

Our living room had a large wood-fire stove. We decided to take it out for a few reasons- 1) it took up lots of space, 2) it's not modern 3) it doesn't burn clean.

This was not an easy task for the guys.

This looks great so far! I'm impressed. Good call on the kitchen cabinets...it looks nice and open now. I can't wait to see more.

Ben is so jealous...he wants to be able to do this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, we have a condo and there are some serious limitations. He'll have to wait until we own a house.
