Oh Nebraska (imagine me shaking my head)

My bro found this today and thought this would entertain my blog readers.  (Or maybe he thought you could relate).

Okay, so I have a question. I've been pondering this for a while now. What do you (anyone reading this) think would happen if abortion were no longer legal? (For the record, I'm Pro-Life myself.) I wonder if we would have more children living in households where they're not properly cared for. This story brings to light a great point - we have parents who are not "qualified" for the job and many kids suffer because of it. We also have a foster system that is not up to par. So, where do we start?

I think it's interesting that we live in a world where you have to apply for a job and your references have to be checked. You must get a license in order to drive. You're supposed to be 21 before you can consume alcohol. The list goes on. However, anyone is allowed to bring life into this world. I realize the personal freedom involved, but at the same time, we're talking about a human life. (Have you read some of the stories that unfold in my classroom on a regular basis? Some parents simply don't care anymore...it's too time-consuming.)

So, let's educate the parents. How? I'm all for some suggestions!

anne: rob and I had an intense conversation about the very issue you're talking about. i'm sure your occupation and rob's are very similar in that aspect. i am dumbfounded and heartbroken at some of the situations he deals with at work regarding parents and children. one story he told me recently brought tears to my eyes. i'm not going to lie (because some of you are some of my best friends) that hearing rob tell me things and his thoughts really make you rethink the pro life vs pro choice stance among many many other social issues. oh, i don't have any suggestions for educating parents. i wouldn't even know where to start.
